2nd Year of the Super Soul Shakedown closes with a BANG!

The second year of the wildly popular Super Soul Shakedown quarterly party series came to a close this past weekend on 10/17/09. After featuring the likes of Brownout, T Bird & the Breaks, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Akina Adderly & the Vintage Playboys, Ernie Garibay & Cats Dont Sleep ft. Joe Jama, Suzy Bravo & the Soul Revue & the 210 Soul Players over the past 7 SSS’s, we reached out to one of the tightest & most funky outfits from Austin, TX, Flyjack, to close out the final Shakedown of 2009.

Before we get to it, big Super Soul Shakedown shout outs are in order for the folks who help make this uniquely funky series what it is…Wax Poetics, KRTU 91.7 FM & the Limelight. Nuff respect due!

For starters, Limelight reached capacity by midnight for the 8th Shakedown in a row, meaning that we’re still batting .1000 for selling out this quarterly series.

DJs Donnie Dee, JJ Lopez & Scuba Gooding warmed up the dance floor for a solid 3 hours & the hardworking patrons really let go of all their pent up stress to sound of the funky conductors.

After the crowd had been primed, Flyjack stepped up to the plate & knocked it out the park! So many fresh originals & covers were ran through & they even had a special guest vocalist, in Tameka Jones…she was the perfect compliment to such an in the pocket, funky outfit.
